DOOM II stuff
These pages are basically here just to keep my friends informed of
the wads, utilities and such that I happen to stumble across.
This document is no longer updated.
Utilities
I'm not really into these (though I've tried quite a few). So, the version
numbers may not be the most recent ones, just those that I've had my hands on.
Some of these may also be shareware, so if you use them, please
register.
- dl102.zip
- A very neat little utility for wad maintenance. Some of the features
include:
- description, ranking and grouping of wads
- handling compressed wads (zip)
- separate save games (6) for each wad
- shareware
- nwt103.zip
- A very neat utility for wad resource maintenance. Everything happens
real fast, including deleting of resources; back up your DOOM2.WAD
- import/export of any resource into/out of PWADs
- playing of sounds & music through SoundBlaster
- shareware
Single player wads
The wads mentioned here are ment to be played as single player wads. If
they also make good cooperative or deathmatch wads, I'll try to
mention it. Kill 'em all.
-
bitchin.zip
- A collection of 6 levels with a lot happening.
- doesn't support skill levels
- baddies seem to come in numbers (and then nothing)
- some nice sound samples as well
-
kronin.zip
- A huge brick fort for single or co-op play.
- use your favourite shotgun w/ plenty of ammo
- no monsters, really (well, maybe one)
-
proxima.zip
- Nice action level with a lot happening in the beginning. After you've
killed most of the baddies, things settle down to a very quiet pace.
- excellent choice of music
- a bit large, might work as 3-4 player DM
-
raven.zip
- 11 levels with realistic block layouts. Nice to move around, but not
too hard on easier difficulty settings.
- may be suitable for 3-4 player DM
-
rigel1.zip
- Large complex with a lot to do. Not that much health, so stay out of
trouble. Nice for practicing those urban combat situations.
- propably too large for DM (haven't tried as co-op)
- similar to stoker2
-
slugfest.zip
- A collection of 10 beautifully designed levels of mayhem.
- some may work well as DM levels
- the enemies seem to come in packs, but at least there's some
- all weapons except BFG
-
stoker2.zip
- Large complex with a lot to do. Nice for practicing those urban combat
situations.
- though it is placed in DM I'd rather not try
- similar to rigel1
-
wtrfront.zip
- Beautiful layout with suitable action. Check out the shooting range!
- nice tricks
- cool music; talk about atmosphere
- when played may crash the game (haven't experienced this myself yet)
Deathmatch
Obviously these are ment for serious killing of smart opponents only.
My main interest is in 2-3 player deathmatch as that happens to be our
more regular group/setup. Some may be suitable for single play as well.
-
arena-ii.zip
- A small pit like arena surrounded by high walls with inner hallways.
Most of the fighting takes place on the hallways (where all the goodies are).
- compact for 2-3 players
- plenty of stuff for DM 2.0
- tough for single play
-
brikyard.zip
- Square area with 5 small "towers" packed with goodies. The towers can
be used as sniping points, but they can be easily taken over.
- compact for 2-3 players
- plenty of stuff for DM 2.0 (contains all the goodies)
- single play works well as a demo
-
medideth.zip
- Large square filled with boxes of various sizes. Most weapons present
with plenty of health and armor.
Other places of interest
I've tried to find some of the more useful www-pages and collect them here.
As it is, there are tons of DOOM related pages (one of which is now mine).
Needless to say, they serve different purposes as well as different tastes.
So, these made me smile:
